My name is Cathy Abraham and I am thrilled to be the Director at Jubilee Kids. I have worked with children and families in several capacities over the past 35 years. I have served as a preschool teacher, Director, College Instructor (in ECE), Crisis Intervention Worker, NAEYC Validator, Residential Treatment Specialist. and as the Director of Training for 2 national corporate child care companies. I have worked as a consultant in the field for the past 20 years, doing trainings and engaging with centers on quality enhancement - in addition to administering Child Development Associate Credentials, and offering my opinion as an Expert Witness in legal cases involving child care centers. I have had 12 articles related to early childhood published, and have presented at national conferences. I have a Masters in Education from Stafford University, and my Associates is from Waubonsee in Early Childhood.
Most recently, I moved back to care for my mother, and worked in a classroom for a colleague at her center.
At this stage of my career, I know what I want and what I can feel good about…. and that is why I am here and not anywhere else. We have an amazing staff, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for Ms Kelly.
I grew up and now also reside in Sugar Grove. I have 3 beautiful granddaughters (1 is in Arizona). June and Sage come to the center part time. My hobbies include making jewelry, going to garage sales, and losing my remote to my TV.
As the Director of Jubilee Kids, I am always available for you to express your opinions, feedback and/or concerns. I am also available to talk about on-line shopping and cute shoes.
Ms Cathy’s favorite children’s book is, “Go Dog Go” by P.D. Eastman
Miss Dawn has been in the early childhood education field for the last 7 years. She started as an assistant and loved it so much, she decided to go back to school, eventually holding positions as lead teacher and assistant director.
Every day, she looks forward to seeing what the children can accomplish! She loves how they grow and develop right before her eyes!
When she's not spending her days being a big kid with the children in her class, she likes to read, travel, take photographs and bake.
What she loves most about the children in her classroom is how they bring such energy and wonder when it comes to learning. They can always put a smile on her face and make her laugh.
Miss Dawn's list of favorite children's books could go on and on, but a few are Our Tree Named Steve, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Even Monsters Need Haircuts and The Great Turkey Race.
Ms Ashley is our amazing Infant Teacher. She previously worked at a preschool and earned her Associates Degree from College of DuPage. Ms Ashley loves her babies, and loves building relationships with the children. Ms Ashley has daily dance parties in her room, and her favorite thing about working with the infants is watching them smile when they accomplish a task or reach a new milestone. Ms Ashley is passionate about doing her and learning as much as she can about child development.
Ashley is an avid sports fan, and loves hockey and baseball.
Ms Ashley’s favorite children’s book is “Fix It Duck 5”
Ms Laurie, our endlessly patient Toddler Teacher, has her degree in Early Childhood Education from College of DuPage. She brings 13 years of experience with children though her church ministry, babysitting and nannying, and work at another child care center.
Ms Laurie’s hobbies are photography, graphic design, watching movies and cooking/baking. The best part of Ms Laurie’s day is eating dinner with her husband and talking about their days. Laurie’s husband also works with children. They are excitedly preparing for the arrival of their first child in the spring.
What Laurie loves most about the children in her classroom is watching them learn new ways to accomplish a task! Its amazing to watch them be able to problem solve on their own.
Ms Laurie's favorite children’s book is “One Fish, Two Fish” by Dr Seuss.
Ms Mary, Our PreK Teacher, has a long history of caregiving. She has worked extensively with both children and the elderly.
She attended College of DuPage and studied Early Childhood. Mary is a very talented artist, and brings her creativity to the classroom. She has also had her artwork published in a children’s book.
Mary is very active in her church and with her family.
Ms Amor comes to us with 17 years of experience at a Montessori Center, teaching all subjects and levels. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Montessori Certification.
Ms Amor gets excited to see the cute smiles of the children and she enjoys playing with them, and watching them learn and grow. She loves her cute infants because “they are innocent and unique. They tell you how they feel and what they need through their expressions, body movements and by cooing, babbling and crying.”
Ms Amor’s hobbies include shopping, doing things around her house, and walking in the park with her husband and beautiful baby, Sage.
Ms Amor’s favorite children’s books are, “Pete the Cat”, ‘I Prayed For You”, and “The Little Red Hen”
Ms. Kelly started in the business of childcare 16 years ago as a licensed provider in her own home. She comes from a family of entrepreneurs. When her own children reached the preteen years, she decided to pursue her love and passion for serving families in a larger capacity. In July of 2014, she founded Jubilee Kids Preschool and Childcare.
Ms. Kelly is married and has 2 teenage children and 2 crazy dogs. When she is not at a volleyball practice or driving her daughter to dance, you will find her snuggling with her dogs and maybe trying to catch a date with her hubby.
Ms. Kelly’s favorite thing about the children at Jubilee Kid’s is the excitement they get about learning. “I love when the children run up to me and share something new that they learned during their day or something that they made all by themselves. I love when they are proud of themselves and it shows!”
My favorite book? “Big Dog, Little Dog” by P.D. Easton
